About

Grey Star Ghost is an indie alt rock band originally from Denton, Texas now based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Grey because very little in life is black and white, Star because stars are infinite, and Ghost because we all have things in our past that were once alive and haunt us today. Formed in late 2018 by Jacob Tucker and some of his closest friends in Denton, their music has been described as ethereal, haunting, having a vulnerability that makes it powerful, absolutely beautiful and completely heartbreaking. The band released their debut album, Silence Found, January 9, 2020. In June 2020, Tucker moved from Denton to Albuquerque, NM. He continued writing songs during the isolation of Covid-19 and recorded follow-up album, Earth Still Moves, released December 3, 2021. Tucker played most of the instruments on the album, with the help of some new friends in the studio. Indie music blog BuzzSlayers described Earth Still Moves as follows, “With a tasteful and beautifully woven album release, Grey Star Ghost brings singer songwriter and indie-pop together in a cinematic and powerful atmosphere that paints vivid visuals and portrays a massive palette of sounds.” Grey Star Ghost is active in the Albuquerque music scene with new friends and bandmates alongside Tucker. They are currently working on material for a new album to be released in 2024.

Grey Star Ghost's Jacob Tucker left Denton, TX, the place he called home for over a decade, and moved across state lines to Albuquerque, New Mexico in the middle a global pandemic. This album is about that journey. Building on Grey Star Ghost's debut album, Silence Found, this sophomore effort shows a progression musically and lyrically with attention turned from the deeply introspective to external observations, informed by a personal lens. With sounds reminiscent of modern indie rock (Lucy Dacus, Sufjan Stevens) and indie rock of the recent past (Elliott Smith), Earth Still Moves is an original work drawing from some of Tucker's most emotionally moving influences. Underneath it all is a story of a new start, and perhaps even a little hope.

Grey Star Ghost introduces their debut, Silence Found, an album about growing up, being let down, facing trials, tragedy, and ultimately the loss of many aspects of life that were once of the utmost importance. Set to sounds reminiscent of early to mid 90s alternative rock combined with modern indie, this album is a wholly original work announcing the arrival of a new indie alt rock band. At times ethereal and atmospheric, at others fierce and edgy, with deeply personal, revealing storytelling that speaks to universal experiences, this album is the weaving together of the complexities of the human experience when looking for answers and finding only silence.
